Overview

Long-lasting concrete tile roofs

Concrete tiles are the workhorse of UK roofing: strong, weather-resistant and available in flat, double Roman and slate-effect profiles. For many homes in Northamptonshire they are the most cost-effective way to get a new roof that will last for decades.

Because interlocking concrete tiles cover more area per tile, they are quicker to lay than plain clay tiles or slate, which keeps labour and scaffold hire down.

FAQs

Concrete tile roof FAQs

How long does a concrete tile roof last?

A well-installed concrete tile roof commonly lasts 50 years or more. The tiles are rarely the weak point; battens, underlay and fixings usually fail first.

My concrete tiles look faded and mossy. Do I need a new roof?

Not always. Weathered tiles can still be sound. Moss removal and a repair may be enough, and we will tell you if the underlay or battens have reached the end of their life.

Are concrete tiles heavier than clay?

Generally, yes. If you are switching from slate or a lighter covering, we check that the roof structure can carry the extra load.

Can concrete tiles go on a low-pitched roof?

Some interlocking profiles are rated for pitches as low as around 15 degrees. We check the manufacturer’s minimum pitch for your roof before recommending a tile.
