Overview

Dry fix roofing that ends mortar repairs

Traditional roofs hold ridge, hip and verge tiles in place with sand and cement mortar. Over time the mortar cracks and washes out, tiles loosen, and in high winds they can come off entirely. Dry fix systems screw or clip every tile in place instead.

We install dry ridge, dry hip and dry verge systems on new roofs and retro-fit them to existing roofs where the mortar has failed. Mechanical fixing is what the current British Standard for slating and tiling, BS 5534, calls for on ridge and hip tiles.

FAQs

Dry fix roofing FAQs

Is dry fix better than mortar?

For durability and upkeep, yes. Each tile is mechanically fixed, so there is no mortar to crack and wash out, and the system allows for roof movement.

Can dry fix be added to my existing roof?

Yes. We remove the old mortar and bedding, fit the dry system and refix your existing ridge or hip tiles where they are sound.

Does dry verge look different?

Dry verge uses caps along the gable edge instead of a mortar line. They come in colours to match your tiles and give a neat, even finish.

Do dry ridge systems ventilate the roof?

Many do. Vented dry ridge systems let moist air escape from the loft, which helps reduce condensation.
